This Ultramarine Tactical Squad should bring up fond memories in veteran gamers, or total surprise to newer fans of Warhammer 40k. Back in 1987 Warhammer 40k was in its infancy and it was a tabletop skirmish level game known as Rogue Trader. These particular miniatures were unlike anything else produced at the time, being the first to feature an all plastic construction with seperate arms, heads, legs and accesories. In comparsion, miniatures of the day from Citadel's competitors were two dimensional single piece castings. These Space Marines were so revolutionary that many people bought the miniatures without even knowing anything about the game! In addition, the miniatures then were quite cheap...a box of 30 marines only cost $22.99USD retail! Today these classic multi-pose plastic miniatures are difficult to come by, and poorly built up examples can fetch a princely sum on Ebay. Luckily my painting skills have improved since 1987, when I first purchased these classic miniatures, and I can give them a paint job worthy of their historical signifigance to miniature collectors.
